Terms of Service

Effective June 12, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Octopus (the "Service"), operated by Atomster ("we", "us"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service description

Octopus is a Shopify app that automates the creation of SEO collection pages and editorial pages from a list of keywords. It includes anti-cannibalization detection against your existing Shopify content, native Shopify Collection rendering, an HTML sitemap, and optional AI-assisted copywriting via Anthropic Claude.

2. Account & eligibility

You must own or be authorized to administer the Shopify store on which you install the app. You agree to provide accurate information and to comply with Shopify's own terms.

3. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use Octopus to:

• Generate content for keywords promoting illegal goods or services.
• Bypass the anti-cannibalization detection in order to spam your store with low-quality duplicates intentionally.
• Reverse-engineer the Service, attempt to extract source code, or interfere with our infrastructure.
• Resell, sublicense, or expose the Service to third parties without our written consent.

4. Pricing & billing

Octopus offers a free tier with monthly quotas and paid tiers with higher quotas. Pricing is displayed in the Shopify App Store at install time. Billing is handled by Shopify and follows Shopify's billing terms.

We may change pricing at any time, with at least 30 days' notice for existing subscribers via in-app banner.

5. AI-generated content

When you provide an Anthropic API key, Octopus uses Claude to generate page intros, meta descriptions, and editorial bodies. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before publishing on your storefront. We do not guarantee accuracy, originality, or SEO ranking outcomes.

Anthropic API usage is billed directly to you through your Anthropic account. We never invoice you for AI usage.

6. SEO disclaimer

Octopus improves the technical and structural SEO foundations of your store (URL structure, on-page content, internal linking, sitemap). Search engine rankings depend on many factors beyond our control: domain authority, backlinks, competitor activity, search engine algorithm updates, and your products' inherent relevance to user queries. We make no guarantee of specific ranking, traffic, or revenue outcomes.

7. Service availability

We target 99.5% uptime but do not commit to a contractual SLA on the free tier. Paid tiers may include SLA terms documented separately. We may perform maintenance with reasonable advance notice via in-app banner.

8. Intellectual property

Octopus's source code, design, and branding remain our exclusive property. You retain ownership of all content created via the Service (collections, pages) — it lives in your Shopify store, not ours.

9. Termination

You may uninstall the Service at any time from your Shopify admin. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, with at least 7 days' notice when feasible. Upon termination, we delete your data per the Privacy Policy.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or lost-profit damages.

11. Warranty disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes are notified at least 14 days in advance via in-app banner. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of France. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Paris, France.
